Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Era: An Analysis From Get With the Guidelines-Stroke

This presentation evaluates acute ischemic stroke (AIS) care during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic using the Get With The Guidelines Stroke (GWTG-Stroke) registry. While AIS stroke presentations have declined, stroke care for the general population remains robust among GWTG-stroke hospitals in the US during COVID-19. Patients with concomitant AIS and COVID-19, however, were found to have more severe strokes, delays in diagnosis and treatment, and worse outcomes during the pandemic.
