Multicentre evaluation of blood-based biomarkers for the detection of endometriosis and adenomyosis
The long time between symptom onset and diagnosis in patients with endometriosis and/or adenomyosis results in disease progression and negatively impacts patients’ quality of life. Blood-based biomarker testing may facilitate earlier detection of these diseases relative to current diagnostic techniques. This study evaluated candidate blood-based biomarkers, or biomarker combinations, to aid the detection of suspected endometriosis and/or adenomyosis in women with chronic pelvic pain and/or unexplained subfertility with high sensitivity.
